I completed the Canvas Certified Educator Training in July 2023. Individuals who have earned this badge have successfully completed all of the requirements of the Canvas Certified Educator program for K12 educators. The CCE courses are connected and designed to help support the participants' success, strengthen their Canvas implementation, and amplify instructional practices that are aligned to learning outcomes and student needs.
Throughout the CCE courses the participant has:
Identified and applied the skills and strategies to create engaging and responsive learning environments in Canvas.
Leveraged technology at various levels of integration to effectively align and target learning goals.
Demonstrated understanding that well-designed technology-integrated learning experiences rely on the interdependence between context, content, and instructional practice.
Assessed learning shifts from teacher-directed learning practices to student-directed personalised learning practices.
Within each course, the participant has experienced first-hand the scaffolded journey of moving through a learning progression from substitution and consumption of information toward redefinition and the creation and application of learning experiences that integrate transformative practices and tools.
The arc of learning in the Canvas Certified Educator program has provided frameworks, models, and instructional practices anchored in research to build awareness of what it takes to create responsive learning environments. Participants who have earned the designation of Canvas Certified Educator have demonstrated the ability to:
Engage in effective practices such as self-assessment, goal setting, and reflection to inform the selection and implementation of intentional instructional moves that support shifts from teacher-directed learning to student-directed learning.
Design with motivation, participation, and progression at the forefront.
Create partnerships between teachers and learners that empower the student by turning the learning over to the learner.
Provide learning experiences that incorporate the use and choice of digital tools that promote transformational practices and support both the teacher and learner’s voice to express learning and create in ways that would not exist without the use of technology.
Implement best practices when building in Canvas.
The Canvas Certified Educator (CCE) program is made up for four core courses taken by all participants. These courses cover technology frameworks, teaching strategies, personalised learning, and digital tools and their connection to Canvas. After the core four are complete, participants choose an elective track. Each elective track consists of two courses, and participants can re-certify in future years by simply picking a new elective track. At the end of each course, educators will earn a badge toward their CCE pathway, and after completing all six courses successfully, educators will be a Canvas Certified Educator.
I have completed the Canvas Certified Educator Course and been awarded the certification badges.
